Lawan’s Group Threatens Legal Action Against Saraki’s Election

Members of the Senate Unity Forum, on Wednesday threatened to take a legal action against the election of Senator Bukola Saraki, which, according to them, did not follow due constitutional procedure.

The leader of the group, Senator Barnabas Gemade, stated this while addressing journalists at the National Assembly Complex, after he led members of the group to stage a walkout in the chambers.

Gemade said 51 senators were not allowed to take part in the election of the Senate president because they were waiting for President Muhammadu Buhari, who invited them to a meeting at the International Conference Centre.

He said his group would, very soon, challenge the alleged illegality in court, “since it takes two-third of members to impeach the Senate president, two third of the members should also have been in attendance before he was elected on Tuesday.”

He said, “Our right to participate in the election of the Senate president is a constitutional right which cannot be taken away by any person or group of persons.

“The Clerk of the National Assembly knowing full well that the quorum for election of the Senate president has not been met, went ahead to conduct an election that shuts the door on about 51 other senators which would remain unacceptable until what would meet democratic parameters was done.”

But members of the Like Minds Senators, at another news conference addressed by Senator Dino Melaye, in company with four others, maintained that due process was followed in the election of Saraki as Senate president.

Iyanya vow not to Date A Celebrity Again (See Reason)

Singer, Iyanya has revealed he would not date a female celebrity again – and it’s all because he’s tired of ‘drama’.
He revealed this in a recent chat with the Punch.
When asked to talk about the kind of woman he would want to end up with,
he said: “A good woman is a good woman.
You can’t just sit and say this is the kind of woman I want.
Some people think the best place to get a girl is in the church; meanwhile, you can get the wrong girl in the right place. Sometimes, I am worried about getting the right woman to marry because of my status.
I have had one or two women come into my life and act like they are something.
The safest thing to do is marry someone you have known before you became a star.”
And then the issue of his relationship with actress Yvonne Nelson popped up and he said: “Yvonne Nelson is an amazing person, but I would never ever in my life date or have anything to do with a female star.
I am not cut out for that kind of drama.”
On his new personality: “People have the right to believe whatever they want to.
There is nobody in this world that would attain this level of success and fame, and remain the same.
My life has changed and I am not going to tell you otherwise.
I am not Iyanya of eight years ago; I am more exposed and have more fans.
You can’t compare the pressure that was on me in 2008 to the pressure on me now.
For me to even have this level of sanity, I believe it is God’s grace and people should pray and support me instead of saying I have changed.
You see me wearing nice suits but if I give a fan my life to live for a week, not everybody will agree to continue after a few days.
“There is a lot of money but it comes with a lot of pressure. Imagine waking up to people being rude to you on social media.
You wake up to curses because you tweeted that God just blessed you with a car, for instance.”
On why he shows off on social media, he said, “Sincerely, I don’t show off.
Anybody that thinks I show off is suffering from inferiority complex.
The only people that think I show off are those people that think they could be me or people who wish they could be close to me but can’t be.
Maybe they like me too much and don’t want to agree they like me that much.
These same people spend hours admiring the posts I put up. hat is what social media is for. It is only in Nigeria that people have a problem with you posting pictures.
While you are complaining that I am posting too many pictures, a true fan is admiring same and considers me as a mentor.
Believe me, a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t.”

Ijaw Youths Accepts Buhari and say there will be no violence

The President of the umbrella body of all Ijaw youths in the country, the Ijaw Youth Council, Mr. Udengs Eradiri, has called on all Ijaw youths across the nation to avoid all acts of violence, destruction and protests as a fallout of the last Saturday’s Presidential election, won by Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress.

Eradiri also congratulated Buhari on his electoral victory and said that Ijaw youths would support his administration to ensure that we have our dream nation, just the same way youths from other parts of the country supported the Jonathan administration.

The IYC president warned that any Ijaw youth who got involved in protest, destruction and other acts of violence would be seen to be doing so at his or her own risk.

He said that the IYC would accept the leadership of Buhari, as the South-South region had had its own chance but could not use the position to its advantage.

Eradiri advised the youth populace in the region to resist from any form of manipulation from and political group or bodies.

He said, “I want to use this opportunity to congratulate Gen. Buhari who has emerged the winner of the presidential election.

“And so as IYC, when we had our own as President, the Igbo, the Yoruba, the Hausa were loyal to him. We will be loyal to the President-elect, Gen. Buhari, who from May 29, 2015 would become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We will accept it (the results of the election). We had our own knife and yam; we were not able to cut it the way we wanted. We have no other person to blame. It is in this part of the country that people ask for money to go and vote. However, the northerners were paying for their own transportation to go and exercise their rights and to go and pick their PVCs.

“Our people were expecting that they would be paid to collect PVCs and the results reflected so. We have no other choice; we are the architect of our own problem. So, we should be able to live with it.

“If you go and protest, you are on your own. If you go and destroy anything, you are on your own. I, as the leader of youths in this region, have reached out to other ethnic nationalities to canvass support. Maybe, we started late. Maybe the attention was not given that should have started with the political class.

“History has already recorded it. So, the best we can do is to key into his (Buhari’s) administration, just as the Yoruba and Hausa key into the administration. It is time for us to also key into the administration. So, I called on our people to steer clear of all those political manipulations.”
